I've always wanted to do something scenic and fantasy-like, hence the background with floating islands and...stuff on them, hurrhur. Those who have seen this when it was still just a sketch, know how messy and chaotic it all looked like. Everything in the background was made from scratch. I had the most fun painting the clouds - I've finally mastered painting fluffy clouds, hoozah; took me long enough. The water was, surprisingly, quickly done, I barely spent like 15 minutes blocking in colors and smudging the reflections with a brush. Teito was extended, vectored and then painted and it was the most tedious job - so many darn flowers and petals and....stuff around him that made me want to gnaw on keyboard. Then I added those lights around him, tweaked some of the things and that was it.
Well, not really, because when I was done, it all looked so weird and just blegh and I really hated it and was very close to deleting the whole thing. Luckily, Nysha helped me with some tips and so those little islands in the back were added to better add to the depth and perspective, some colors were tweaked and I added atmospheric lighting on those faraway islands that were bugging me the most. In the end, I played with some more gradients, colors and levels and that was it. For realz this time.
Hope you like it and feedback is, as always, welcome!

The art is beautiful, although the OCD in me immediately spotted that the left hand seems... odd. I can't even remotely twist my hand to grab my right arm like that when behind my back. Is that only me? O.o
Lol, you're not the first person who remarked that about the hand. I tried twisting it that way and surprisingly, had no trouble doing it. It was that way in the original scan, too so I dunno, really. xD
How've ya been??? I didn't recognize it
was you till I saw this piece
And I still love it
Just thought I'd pop in to say hey
Thanks, glad you liked it!
